1. Chick-Fil-A

2. Trojans Win, 7-5

In baseball action, the Derry Area Trojans withstood a late rally by the home standing Valley Vikings on a rainy Tuesday afternoon to pick up a hard fought 7-5 section win.  With the victory the Trojans sweep the season series.

Sophomore Nate Papuga, who after giving up two runs in the first settled in to pitch 4 2/3 solid innings.  The right-hander gave up seven hits and struck out seven, while walking two.

Senior Blake Cecchini picked up the save avoiding a late rally by the Vikings in the bottom of the seventh.

Ryan Hood and Nick Thomas banged out two hits each in a ten hit Trojan attack. Ashton Beighley added two RBIs and courtesy runner Jake Watson stole two bases and scored twice.

DA (3-1) (2-0) will host West Shamokin on Thursday at 4:00 in an exhibition tilt. They will return to section play on Monday at home against rival Mount Pleasant at 4:00.

3. Spencer Reaches 200

Derry got its first win of the volleyball season by beating Deer Lakes 3-1. Scores were 26-24, 18-25, 25-15 and 25-10.  Noah Berkhimer had 8 kills and Gabe Carbonara added 7 kills.  Morgan Sobota, Ethan Frye, and Matt Rhoades all chipped in with 5 kills.  Matt Rhoades also added 32 assists.  Elijah Wigand added 7 digs.  Mason Beeman had a career high 5 aces in the match.  The win give Coach Spencer his 200th of his career. Congratulations on this milestone Coach!
