3 things to know for December 1: Trojan of the Year, KIND Closet, Toys for Tots
1. Trojan of the Year
Ever since 1927, TIME magazine has announced its Person of the Year, which features and profiles a person, a group, an idea, or an object that “for better or for worse… has done the most to influence the events of the year.”
We, the writers of The Station, are proud to announce that before Christmas break, we will feature our own “Trojan of the Year.”
The process is simple. For one week, we will gather nominees as submitted by you, the students, faculty, and staff of Derry Area High School. Once the poll closes, we will gather all nominees and a reader’s poll will be created. Please know that the poll winner does not decide the selection, but it will help the student writers to make a decision.
To submit your nominee, please visit our Trojan of the Year page.
2. KIND Closet
The KIND Closet needs volunteers Wednesday and Thursday of this week from 3:00 to 5:00. This is a great community service opportunity and a way to give back to your community this holiday season. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Smolleck.
3. Toys for Tots
The officers of the Spanish and French honor societies are organizing a Toys for Tots drive. The boxes will be located in the front lobby of the high school. The boxes will be out from December 1-17. Please donate unused/new toys only.
LUNCH TALK

The Foo Fighters are going back on the road in 2022, and their first show is set for the Pittsburgh area.
The rock group is scheduled to perform at the Pavilion at Star Lake on Saturday, May 14.
Tickets will go on sale Friday morning at LiveNation, following a presale for Citi cardholders.

TODAY’S QUOTE
They’re a nuisance, but they’re beautiful
Dozens of feral peacocks and peahens are roaming the streets and leaping from the rooftops of Tracy, California. They claw at shingles and defecate on porches. Their calls, especially in mating season, echo through the community. They have no fear of pets nor people.

AND FINALLY…
Omicron. Omicron.
It’s pronounced Ah Muh Kraan.
