Derry Area High School’s 2022 homecoming will be held on October 8th in the high school gym, thanks to all our fantastic teachers and staff helping out.

Mrs.Gardner, the principal of Derry Area High school, has an enjoyable day planned today. There will be a pep assembly that will include the band playing, and cheerleaders performing, and the homecoming court will be presented. The homecoming court will also be announced at the homecoming football game later tonight.

“I am thrilled about homecoming because I have never been able to plan all the activities,” says Mrs. Gardner. “I am definitely someone who loves to party plan and make events.”

The 2022 Homecoming court is as follows: freshman Princess and Prince are Elizabeth Short and Brady Aliff. The Sophomore Princess and Prince is Payton Donovan and Jason Ruckle. Junior Princess and Prince are Ava Magill and Donovan Titus. The Senior Court is Ashley Baker and Chuck Banks, Emilee Blasko and Antonio Hauser, Isabella DePalma and Hunter Jurica, Sarah Dettling and Dominic Patrick, and  Cydney Wierzbowski and Aidan Yates.

“I would say that being on the court is a privilege and a good way to stay involved with the school,” says Isabella DePalma, a senior on the court. “Our responsibilities include participating in the spirit week themes, attending the dance, and riding in the homecoming parade.”

Homecoming is an event that every school across the country looks forward to every fall – and this weekend is Derry’s turn. Since life has somewhat gotten back to normal, don’t take this weekend’s festivities for granted. Cheer at the pep rally. Collect candy at the parade. Attend the football game. Have a good time at the dance. Be proud to be a Derry Trojan.

“It is a time for alumni and current students to have a fabulous time at Derry Area High School,” says Mrs. Bushey. “Enjoy and have fun.”
