Majority of residents in the region regain power following strong overnight winds

Power has been restored to the majority of homes in the region on Tuesday morning following overnight outages caused by strong winds.

More than 2,500 individuals experienced power outages at certain times. The latest figures for RG&E, NYSEG, and National Grid customers can be found here. Certain areas, including Monroe, Genesee, Orleans, and Wyoming counties, are still affected by power outages.

During the night, strong winds caused a utility pole to collapse on State Route 31 in Sweden. Swift action was taken by the crews to repair the fallen pole and the wires that had landed on a car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this incident.
