Trump administration prohibits foreign flags from being flown at embassies

Pregnant women file lawsuit against Trump administration for ending birthright citizenship

The Trump administration’s commitment to curbing diversity efforts in government institutions has led to the US Department of State implementing a ban on consular posts from displaying any flags other than the US flag.

The Guardian has obtained a cable titled “One flag policy” which seems to address the issue of gay pride and Black Lives Matters flags being flown at embassies during the Biden administration.

During a Pride month celebration held on the south lawn, gay pride flags were prominently displayed at the White House. This gesture, however, faced significant backlash from conservatives.

According to the memo, the United States of America flag is now the only authorized flag to be flown or displayed at US facilities, both domestically and internationally, as well as featured in US government content.

“The flag of the United States of America serves as a unifying symbol that brings together all Americans, regardless of their background. It represents the timeless principles of justice, liberty, and democracy, which form the foundation of our nation. These values are cherished by every American citizen, both in the present and throughout history.”

According to the memo, the only flags that were permitted were the prisoner of war/missing in action flag and the hostages and wrongful detainees flag.

The White House made the decision to halt all DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusion) programs and affirm that there are only two sexes through executive orders signed by Trump on his first day in office. These actions were seen as an attack on the legal recognition of non-binary rights.
