Firefighting crew from Pennsylvania dispatched to assist in tackling California wildfires
According to the Shapiro Administration, a team of 40 firefighters from various parts of Pennsylvania is en route to California to assist in the fight against the wildfires.
Firefighters from various parts of Pennsylvania are on their way to California to assist the local first responders in combating the wildfires, as confirmed by the Governor’s Office.
The Shapiro Administration made an announcement stating that on Friday, a group of 40 firefighters from Pennsylvania departed for Los Angeles to assist in fighting the wildfires. Governor Shapiro expressed his gratitude, saying, “Pennsylvania is fully prepared to support our fellow Americans, and these courageous and skilled firefighters are stepping up to the challenge by heading to California to contribute to the ongoing efforts in safeguarding lives and communities.”
On Monday, the crews, consisting of DCNR staff and volunteer wildland firefighters, will be arriving in California. They will be assisting with various tasks, which include:

- Installing water lines and sprinkler systems to protect fire lines and buildings
- Improving defensible space around homes in the path of wildfires
- Reinforcing critical fire containment strategies to prevent further spread
Fire crews will be in California for a duration of two weeks, according to officials.
