1. Marathon Win

Brayden Mickinac shut the door with two scoreless innings to lead the Trojan baseball team to a marathon 19-13 win over Kiski SchoolThursday night at historic Andreini Field in Saltsburg.

The senior right-hander struck out six to earn the save. Sophomore Roman Fridley earned the win by pitching the first three innings and yielding two runs on one hit. He fanned six, but walked five. DA pounded out 19 hits in the game and took an 8-2 lead after two innings. The Trojans then scored nine more times in the fourth to lead 17-2.

Derry Area now (9-4) will host Ligonier Valley in the final section series of the season Monday at Grandview field. Gametime for game one is 4:00 PM.

2. Softball Wins

In softball action the Lady Trojans defeated Shadyside Academy 19-5.  The Lady Trojans scattered 13 hits in the game.  Izzy DePalma, Katie Dunlap, Sophia Doherty, Maizie Legge, and Sarah Dettling each racked up multiple hits.  Doherty, Dunlap, and DePalma each collected three hits to lead the Derry offensive onslaught.

3. Fall Sports Dates

Girls Physicals: June 30th at 8 AM

Boys Physicals: July 13th at 8 AM

Where: Physicals will be held in the Middle School Nurses Suite.

What to Bring: A 2022-2023 PIAA CIPPE form that can be found online, in the high school office, or at the Athletic Training Room. Please have Sections 6 “Family Health History” completed and signed by student and guardian before arriving.
