1. Marsh Twirls to Victory

On April 23rd, Mia Ashley Marsh won all of her Notice East Open events and pageants in baton at the All East Twirling Championships presented by NJ Twirling, at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

2. Trojans Beat Deer Lakes

The DA Trojans built a 5-0 lead and never looked back in an important 9-3 section win over visiting Deer lakes.

Senior right-hander Ryan Hood had another dominating performance giving up three runs, one earned and scattered five hits in 5 1/3 innings. Hood fanned eight on the day.  Senior Jake Watson came on to shut down DL the rest of the way. Watson struck out two.

Nick Thomas finished 3-4 with a double and Roman Fridley smacked two hits.  Both had two RBI on the day.  Ashton Beighley scored two runs for the Trojans, now (7-3) overall and (4-2) in section play.  Deer Lakes drops to (4-4) in the conference.

3. Volleyball Falls to Latrobe, 3-1

Derry lost to Latrobe in volleyball 3-1. Scores were 22-25, 20-25, 27-25, 13-25.  Nick Allison led Derry with 11 kills an 9 digs. Matt Rhoades had 25 assists and 9 digs.

Derry JV won 2-1.  Scores were 26-24, 20-25 and 15-10.  Cam McNichol and Duke Klapchar had 4 kills each.  Johnathan Shumaker had 14 assists.

Derry Trojans Varsity defeated Shadyside Academy  22-2 on Wednesday thanks in part to Izzy DePalma, who drove in four runners.  DePalma drove in runs on a single up the middle and a triple clearing the bases.

Derry Trojans Varsity tallied nine runs in the third inning.  The offensive onslaught by Derry Trojans Varsity was led by Sophia Doherty, Maizie Legge, Izzy DePalma, Abby Doperak, Shelby Glick, and  Sarah Dettling, who all drove in runs.

Rebecca Huss was credited with the victory for Derry Trojans Varsity. The righty lasted four innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out four.

Derry Trojans Varsity totaled 12 hits.  DePalma, Doperak, and Doherty each managed multiple hits for Derry Trojans Varsity.  Doherty, Doperak, and DePalma all had two hits to lead Derry Trojans Varsity.  Derry Trojans Varsity stole 17 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Sophia Doherty led the way with five.
