3 things to know for April 5: Chick-Fil-A, Hood Fans 11, Softball Loses


1. Chick-Fil-A Fundraiser

Help support the National Business Honor Society this Saturday by enjoying some Chick-Fil-A at the Eastgate Plaza location in Greensburg. Remember you must tell them you are there to support the Derry NBHS when you place your order.

2. Hood Fans 11, Derry wins 11-1

Senior Ryan Hood tossed a two hitter and struck out eleven as the Derry Trojan baseball team defeated Valley 11-1 on Monday in a game shortened due to the 10-run mercy rule.  Noah Cymmerman was the only Trojan with two hits. He also added three RBI. Nick Thomas finished with two runs batted in, and Antonio Hauser, Lucas Ray, and courtesy runner Jake Watson each scored twice.

DA now (2-1) overall and (1-0) in section play will go right back at it with the Vikings on Tuesday at Valley. Gametime is 4:00.

3. Doherty goes 2 for 3, but Derry loses

In Softball action the Lady Trojans watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-1 loss to North Catholic High School on Monday.

Maizie Legge took the loss. The righty allowed seven hits and five runs over three innings, while striking out three.

Sophia Doherty went deep in the fourth inning and added a double as she led DA with two hits in three at bats.
