2. Basketball Beats Burrell

The Derry Area Lady Trojans traveled to Burrell for an important section game and came away with a hard-fought 44-41victory. Mara Lewis and Tiana Moracco each hit a foul shot in the last 14 seconds of the game to give them the 3-point margin of victory. Tiana Moracco led Derry with 28 points. She needs 3 more points to hit 1,000. Sophomore Samantha Gruska hit 4 three pointers and one two-point field goal to finish with 14 important points. The Lady Trojans are now 6-5 overall and 3-3 in section play. They play a home exhibition game against Mt. Pleasant next Tuesday at 6 pm.

3. Swim Results

The girls’ swim team remains undefeated in section action as the boys remain winless. Jake Hauser had an outstanding night on the board as he broke the 200-point barrier for the first time. The girls swam extremely well as many of them either PRed or had their best swims thus far this season. The evening was filling with many exciting and close races.

TODAY’S QUOTE

I wear mine for a week.

Says civil and environmental engineering professor Linsey Marr, talking about how long you can wear an N95 mask.

An N95 mask’s material and filtration ability aren’t “going to degrade unless you physically rub it or poke holes in it,” Marr said. “You’d have to be in really polluted air … for several days before it lost its ability to filter out particles. So, you can really wear them for a long time.
